After reviewing the Pricing and Policies section, please send your manuscript as a Microsoft Word-compatible document in an e-mail attachment to jhbrown62@gmail.com or to jhbrown@jhbrownscientificediting.com. (Figures may be sent as well, in common file platforms such as jpeg, tiff, and pdf.) Corrections made in the manuscript file will be highlighted using the “Track Changes” option of Microsoft Word. Moreover, queries and other comments for the client will be included directly in the manuscript file using the “Comments” tool. An edited manuscript, with "JB_Edit" added to the filename, will be returned to the client by e-mail, usually within one week or another agreed-upon deadline. The client should of course review the edited manuscript and comments, and make any necessary changes.
In-Depth Service
I specialize in “in-depth” editing of both writing and scientific content. In order to produce the highest-quality product, I aim to fully understand the author’s work and will thus read the manuscript at least two or three times before returning it to the client with edits and comments. For some manuscripts, the first edited version sent to the client is considered preliminary, and the client will need to respond to queries and comments before a “final” edited version is produced. This in-depth service typically takes between 5 and 25 hours of editing time, depending upon the length and quality of the original manuscript.
Simple Editing Service
A simple editing service is also available upon request. In this case, the manuscript will be edited in one pass — primarily for grammar, sentence structure, and routine scientific content. Any obvious problems with the overall organization of the manuscript will be noted. This abbreviated service usually requires between 2 and 6 hours of editing.
